FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Press Release The 31st annual Kent Cornucopia Days Festival is almost here. This years dates are July 11 14th, 2002. The festival starts Thursday with our full size carnival (11-14th), Cornucopia Cup Soccer Tournament (11-14th), the NASA art exhibit on the Artrain (11-14th), and downtown merchant sidewalk sale (11-14th). Then Friday starts the Northwests largest street fair (12-14th) with over 600 vendors and merchants, including two huge food courts & Reehook beer gardens. Add to that the Sierra Springs Main & Gazebo Stages of free entertainment, educational displays, safety & health fairs, military displays, and Scout Show (11-14th). On Saturday is our beautiful Kent Cornucopia Days Dragon Boat Races (13th only) on Lake Meridian with over 20 teams competing. We also have our Old Time Music Festival (13th only), VFW Car Show (13th only), Lego Cornucopia Skateboard Tournament (13th only), and Italian Heritage Fair (13-14th). Then on Sunday we have South King Countys largest parade, our own Grand Parade (14th only), and the Lego Cornucopia Inline Skate Tournaments (14th only).
General times are Thursday, July 11th 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm for the Carnival 12 noon - 7:00 pm for Artrain Friday, July 12th 10:00 am - 9:00 pm Festival in general 2:00pm - 12:00 midnight for the Carnival 12 noon - 7:00 pm for Artrain Saturday, July 13th 10:00 am - 9:00 pm Festival in general 11:00 am - 12:00 midnight for the Carnival 12 noon - 7:00 pm for Artrain 2 & 7:00 pm for the Music Festival Sunday, July 14th 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Festival in general 2:00 pm for the Parade 12 noon - 8:00 pm for the Carnival 10:00 am - 5:00 pm for Artrain Special events include the Red Baron Squadron fly over's of the Festival with WW II Boeing Stearman open cockpit biplanes. They will also kick of the Sunday Parade at 2 pm, and the Saturday Dragon Boat Races at 10 am. Hewlett Parkcard brings a full semi-truck full of new products, Lego will also be here with its Bionicle tour and head up our Cornucopia Skateboard and Inline Skate Tournaments. Redhook is sponsoring both of our beer gardens, while Sierra Springs Water is the sponsor both of our free stages, with Kents own Firecreek Grill providing the entertainment at the Gazebo Stage.
