Founding sponsor of Project Lighthouse (teenage
activities). Lighthouse is a collaborative effort that began in 1993 among
youth and adult leaders in the community to provide comprehensive
and integrated activities, services and resources to adolescents in South King County.
Lighthouse is centered around the developmental needs of youth and is provided free
of charge to all teens 13-19 years of age. Their goal as an organization is to
mobilize community resources to increase the positive options and role models for young
people. Site locations include Kent Junior High School, Sequoia Junior High School,
and Cedar Heights Junior High School. The Kent Lions Club was an founding sponsor
and continues to support this project.
